We are privileged to have a cIose relationship with Calvary Chapel Abuja, Nigeria.

Prince Lawrence is the pastor of the church, he is married to Florence. Prince first came to Hungary in 2000 after being forced to leave Nigeria as a political refugee. He then lived in the Bicske refugee camp, just outside of Budapest, and started coming to church, helping regularly in the cloakroom and in our cleaning team. In 2002, Prince went to study at the Vajta Bible College, and God placed the call on his life to become a pastor. In 2005, he returned to his homeland to start the church in Abuja, the first Calvary Chapel in Nigeria.

Also serving in the Abuja church is Ági Andriska. Ági became a Christian in Calvary Kaposvár, and moved to Nigeria to start a medical ministry and serve in the women's ministry. There in the church she met Solomon, and they were married in 2010.

April 2011 newsletter

Dear friends,

The blessings of March:

The Lord helped Florence & I to end another month together (as a husband & wife), growing together in our love for Him & for each other. This is important for me to be thankful for in these days of intense spiritual warfare, when it seems like the enemy has declared war on families, even among believer.

We thank you for your prayers for us also as we traveled for Pastor Godfrey’s brother’s funeral. During the service many people came forward to give their lives to the Lord. Please, keep praying for Pastor Godfrey, his aged mom, the young widow & their entire family. His brother was 32 & only got married last June (that’s a normal marriage age here)…9 years ago, their older brother had died at the same age of 32, unmarried. Pastor Godfrey of CC One-Man-Village is the only son left for their mom.

At CC Abuja

We keep growing in His knowledge & in studying the Word. We finished 2 Timothy & started Titus. We’re still going thru Joshua on the Wednesdays. We also finished Matthew on Fridays & are now in Mark, as we continue to study on the Life of Christ thru the gospels.

The Lord keeps bringing His people out to hear His Word. Most importantly, He’s helping us to find ways to daily apply the studies.

Church Construction:

Praise the Lord with us – we finally completed the walls & have since plastered it all (inside & out). So now we’re left with 12 windows & 3 doors to cover it all up. This week we just experienced the 1st rainfall. Rain always comes with high winds here in Abuja. So we really need the windows & doors in place to prevent from being wet while inside. Besides the windows, we still have the ceilings & the tiling to deal with.

St. Paul’s property still for sale:

We let you in on the “for sale” sign hanging at the gate of the Catholic School next to our church plot. It was a kindergarten & a primary school. We however, would like to use it for a Calvary Chapel Bible College, if the Lord provides. With a population of over 150 million, we believe Nigerians would be blessed to have a place such as this for training men & women, equipping them to go & reach/teach others. This property has enough room for classes & accommodation for the prospective Bible Students from all around the country & beyond. Please, pray along with us on this!

Others:

  • We’re still praying about a worship leader & players of instruments, who are both gifted & called by the Lord, not show people. Pray on our behalves, would you!
  • My sister – Grace & her kids came visiting for nearly 2 months now from Lagos. Her husband began walking away from the faith & living carelessly. This is taking a toll on her & her kids. Please, lift them up in prayer…that God’s will be done concerning them.
  • One of our sisters – Tina just learnt her father died while asleep. Pray the Lord comforts her & her family & for safety & provisions for the funeral (trips).
  • Please pray for those who’re not doing well spiritually here at the church that the Lord would strengthen their faith in Him & draw them ever closer to Himself!

November 2010 newsletter

Dear family, brethren & friends,

We write you with joy in the Lord…in who He is and in what He’s able to do. Our faithful Father and Lord has done mighty works for us again this month of November. We have the hope of being a part of the last month of this year…that’s a miracle!

There was robbery attack on Brett & his family. They’re now doing much better. As someone rightfully
said, that’s a proof that they’re doing a good job in the Lord’s account. However, there are still various reports of robberies at night around here & we hear the gunshots (as the robbers use it to scare people to open up or the police arrive to confront them. So we need your continued prayers for His protection.

The church is moving forward after the many waves of attacks…some people are still going around, being used by the enemy to corrupt or pollute people’s mind about the work we’re doing. They want leadership positions or want the church to dance to their tune…join us in praying for their salvation. This Sunday we had a baptism service right after church for two of our brothers. 2 more joined us from CC One-Man-Village, so a total of 4 made that public declaration of their faith thru baptism. Pray for brothers Frank & Sunny that the Lord would strengthen their walk with Him.

Our missionaries – Jehu & Bem (CC Gboko) are both down with hepatitis. Please lift these guys up in prayers that the Lord heals them & provides for medication for them. Thank you!

My dad’s (Mr. Lawrence) health has been a constant thief of our happiness out here. You’ve been praying for him & we appreciate that much. But in the last couple of weeks, he’s gotten way worse…losing his sight & can't stand anymore. Please pray that he could get good medical care and that I could go and visit him.

Flo & I are doing very well as a couple. The Lord keeps giving us peace daily. However, we ask that you don’t cease lifting us up to the Lord that He’d uphold us & help us to continue to follow Him with everything & in every way He calls us to. Thank you!

Please, check out www.calvarychapelabuja.com, then click on “Photo Galleries” & then on “2010” to view recent photos of/from the church.

Many blessings & we wish you a very merry Christmas & a happy new year in advance!

In His good grace,

Prince & Florence
